There will be an even earlier launch of the next flagship chip for Android-based smartphones.
The dates for Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit have been officially published, and the company has confirmed that the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor will be shown to the public between September 23 and September 25. The news, which was made during the company’s presentation at Computex, is in line with previous reports that predict an earlier-than-usual delivery schedule.
A number of smartphones, including the forthcoming Xiaomi 16 series, as well as several Motorola, Vivo, and other brands, are anticipated to be among the first few to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3.
It is anticipated that premium smartphone makers, particularly Chinese ones, will debut their first Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered handsets immediately after the introduction of the new system-on-chip (SoC), which is scheduled to take place in late September. This is a departure from the customary timeline of October and November, lending credence to the possibility that worldwide rollouts may potentially take place sooner than in recent years.
A Time That Is Uncomfortable for Samsung
It is possible that the amended timeframe would create a problem for Samsung, which is according to reports planning to introduce its foldable phones of the next generation around the beginning of July. That would put the introduction of its premium smartphones only three months before Qualcomm’s new processor becomes the industry standard for Android flagships. This would be a very significant development. As a consequence of this, Samsung’s foldables could find themselves falling behind in the fight for specifications very rapidly.
Qualcomm has not yet provided any specifics on the technical characteristics of the 8 Elite 2, but it is anticipated that further information will become available before to the summit in September.
